Alzheimer’s Society

Dementia is set to be the 21st century’s biggest killer. In order to get the country to face up to, and prepare for, this approaching tsunami wave, we re-launched Alzheimer’s Society as a movement of unity. After all, this cruel disease doesn’t care about your religion, your sexuality, your political views, or how much money’s in your account. It’s coming for us all. So the quicker we put aside our differences and come together, United Against Dementia, the better our chances of defeating it will be.

To launch the United Against Dementia campaign, we managed to get rival broadcasters to unite for the first time to premier our 90 second commercial simultaneously on ITV and Channel 4.

The ad was written by Mike Oughton, art directed by Dan Howarth, shot by Oscar-nominated director, Daniel Barber, with an original music score by Will Gregory of Goldfrapp, and narration by actor, Bill Nighy.

 
 
 

World cup winners united against dementia

To raise funds, our DRTV commercial featured World Cup legends Geoff Hurst and Gordon Banks, who made an emotional return to Wembley to make a plea on behalf of three of their 1966 teammates who are now living with dementia. The ad made such an impact that it made it on to News at Ten.

The second phase of the campaign saw the design alter slightly so it was more consistent with internal communications.
